Thousands sign up for new Toyota Prius

British motorists have shown themselves eager to embrace the latest advances in cleaner, fuel efficient, full hybrid power with thousands signing up to buy the all-new Toyota Prius.
Before the new Prius's officially went on-sale in August, more than 2,000 advance orders had been taken by Toyota.
What's more, nearly 10% of buyers took advantage of the scrappage scheme, with drivers ready to swap old, thirsty and high-polluting models for Prius, which Toyota claims is the world's cleanest family car with just 89g/km of CO2 produced by the T3 model.
A glance at the list of vehicles traded in under the scheme - which sees the government and manufacturers paying £2,000 towards the cost of a new car when they scrap a vehicle over 10 years old -reveals the breadth of appeal of new Prius.
Under the scheme, buyers have given up everything from a Jaguar Sovereign and Mercedes-Benz SL to a Nissan Sunny and Fiat Tipo to be among the first to drive the new full hybrid Prius.
Toyota says it has also received tremendous feedback from its pre-launch marketing activities. More than 3000 people have taken up retail and fleet driving opportunities.
The company expects further momentum will be gained from a new TV advertising campaign, under the tagline: The Next Prius. Follow Me.
