Cleaner engines for new Citroen C5
06 January 2010
French carmaker Citroen has introduced two new, greener power-plants in its popular C5 range.
A new 1.6i 16V THP 155hp petrol engine, co-developed with luxury car manufacturer BMW, has replaced the out-going 2.0i 16V 143hp unit.
The new engine offers an 8% increase in power, combined with an 18.5% increase in combined-cycle fuel economy and a 16% reduction in CO2emissions.
Meanwhile the new 2.0HDi 16V 160hp diesel also provides increased torque when compared to the out-going 140hp manual C5 Saloon as well as a 14% increase in power, a 3% increase in fuel economy (combined cycle) and reduced CO2 emissions.
Significantly, for company car drivers, BIK taxation charges also reduce with the launch of these new engines.
Other improvements to the new Citroen C5 include the introduction of a new integrated Bluetooth(r) system with USB Box as standard on Exclusive models. The system provides drivers with an easy and safe way to stay in contact on the move, along with the ability to connect portable media players directly into the car's audio system.
Another significant change to the C5 line-up is the renaming of the SX trim level to VTR.
